On June 24, 1981 in a remote village across the world, events unfolded and the lives of many millions would never be the same from that day on.
It is reported that on June 24, 1981 six youth from an area of the former Yugoslavia, called Medjugorje, saw a vision of a woman they believed to be the “Gospa”, the Mother of God. On June 25th she again appeared and this time she identified herself as the Queen of Peace. Since that day over 20 years ago, she has continued to visit the earth and give a message of peace for the world. The mission of The MIR Group is to disseminate this message.
On October 13, 1987 a group of business men and women, under the spiritual guidance of two local priests and a priest from Medjugorje, came together and formed The MIR Group. Its purpose, then and now, is to share the message of Our Lady, which she promises will bring peace to the world. It’s a simple formula. Prayer, fasting, reconciliation, conversion equals PEACE. If one prays daily, particularly the rosary and attends Holy Mass; makes the sacrifice to fast on bread and water on one or two days of the week; sincerely works on reconciling themselves with God and others; and converts their lives over to God, then peace will surely be attained.
The MIR Group is a non-profit (501) (c3) organization comprised of people the world over who attempt to disseminate this peaceful message. Our work consists primarily of coordinating religious events, which provide the faithful with a very special atmosphere conducive to prayer. We particularly promote Marian devotion, knowing that when one comes to know the Mother of God, she always leads them to her Son, Jesus. Each month on the 25th of the month Our Lady gives a message to the world. The MIR Group has an extensive e-mail list and fax list of recipients for this message. We host a monthly Mass to pray for Peace and invite everyone to attend. And we coordinate a huge Marian Conference once a year at a major convention center.
The MIR Group office is located in suite 744 of the First Bank Center in Metairie, Louisiana. Everyone is welcome to visit our office and Chapel. The MIR Group Chapel is open weekdays from 9AM to 5PM. We invite you to join us each day at 11:45AM for the Rosary and each First Friday of the month for First Friday Mass at 12 Noon.
